Abstract

In the analysis of fiber-reinforced composites a structure composed of micro-cells can be defined which could represent the periodic nature of material. In this paper a three-dimensional multi-cell volume element is analyzed by viscoelastic finite element method. The effect of viscoelastic matrix, time-dependent behavior of residual stresses arising from the manufacturing process, and damage initiation and propagation due to externally applied loads are presented.
