Abstract

Intense pulsed ion beams, with kinetic energies ranging from several hundred kilovolts to ten megavolts and current densities ranging from several ten’s of kiloamperes per cm2 to almost one mega-ampere per cm2, have been generated by reflex triode, reflex, triode, reflex pinched, and magnetically insulated ion diodes [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].
