Abstract

The broader topics at issue in this book are evolution, foreign genes, and classification. I shall discuss Darwin’s knowledge of and views on these subjects and briefly review progress since Darwin. Before commenting on specific theories, however, I should like to explain my general views on theories, hypotheses and biological laws.
