Abstract
The locations affected by tsunamis encompass the entire Caribbean region. The Caribbean Sea is a part of the Atlantic Ocean, bounded by the coasts of Central America, South America, and the West Indies. The Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles island chains constitute the West Indies. The Greater Antilles lie along the northern boundary of the Caribbean Sea and include Puerto Rico, Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti), Jamaica, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands. The Lesser Antilles comprise both the Leeward and Windward Islands. Together they form the long are of the West Indian archipelago.
