Abstract
The general focus of this book is on national policies and their role in stimulating environment-oriented innovation. Within the ENVINNO research project, we have focused on technological innovation and defined environment-oriented technologies in a manner that implies that the amount of production residuals can be reduced or the quality can be changed, so that they present less of a hazard to the environment. Beside market incentives, environmental policy and technology policy are the main public drivers stimulating companies’ innovation activities. The creation of ‘green markets’ therefore, partly depends on such public stimuli which can provide the basis for green businesses. Hence, the aim of the policy analysis was to determine the effectiveness of these two policy fields.
