Abstract
In the design of a duct system acoustic aspect is very important for its efficient and quiet performance. Electro-acoustic speakers, engines, fans, blowers, pumps and fluid machines are some of the commonly used sources (figure 1) in duct systems. A literature survey indicates that there have been continuous efforts in theoretical and experimental modeling of duct noise control systems such as muffler systems. Although there are several acoustic studies on duct noise control systems, still the acoustic characterization of sources and their interaction with loads has been a challenging task.
