Abstract
Ordered semirings are very important tools for many applications, for example, discrete event systems, optimization problems, shortest path problems, idempotent analysis, the theory of quantales, etc. For some references, see Sections 3.2, 5.2, 5.3. and 4.2. Semirings often appear as reducts of some ordered algebraic structures as lattice-ordered groups, semigroups and rings (see Sections 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 below), of Boolean algebras with operators and relation algebras (see Section 4.4), etc.
