Abstract
The forests of Sweden cover 22,613,103 ha, which is more than half of the land area of the country, see Table 2.1. As the climate changes from south to north, the biotic zonations cover the nemoral, boreo-nemoral and boreal zones (Sjörs 1965). The border between the nemoral and the boreo-nemoral zones is defined by the southern distribution limit of Norway spruce. Most of the southern counties of Scania, Blekinge and Halland are within the nemoral zone, Fig. 2.1.
