Abstract
This study focuses on the low forest community found on the inselberg of the Nouragues area. Some authors have already indicated the occurrence of low forests in French Guiana, especially while exploring the vegetation of unknown or poorly known inselbergs, such as those of the south-western Tumuc Humac chain (Granville & Sastre 1974, Granville 1978) or more accessible inselbergs like ‘Nouragues’ and ‘La Trinité’ (Larpin 1993, 1994). Consequently, some floristic and ecological data on these plant communities can be found in the ‘Aublet’ data base (Hoff et al. 1989) from herbarium specimens.
