Abstract
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is a member of the tribe Andropogoneae, which also contains maize (Zea mays L.) and sugarcane (Saccharum L.). Despite having over 200 identified and named loci, only three linkage groups with greater than two mapped morphological loci had been identified by the late 1980’s, and the largest of these contained only five genes (Schertz and Stephens, 1966).
