Abstract

Familiarity with the regions and characteristics of the AV node and coronary sinus is essential for the daily practice of modern clinical electrophysiology. Despite huge advances in knowledge in recent years, there remain significant gaps in understanding such as, for example, the precise anatomy and cellular electrophysiology of dual AV junctional (“nodal”) pathways or the precise sites and mechanisms of slowing of conduction responsible for the property of decrementai conduction that is so characteristic of the AV node.
