Abstract
As has been argued in the first chapter of this book, nature and the environment are used in different ways in tourism and tourism activities. A crucial question in this respect is to what extent it is possible to assign an economic value to nature and the environment. If this is possible to do, the decision-making process regarding the use of nature and the environment in tourism activities can be based on sound economic information. This facilitates the decision making process regarding the use of nature.
