Abstract

The growing importance of knowledge enhanced by a very easy access to it via the Intemet/WWW environment is a natural consequence of the strengthening information society in the world today. This is particularly true in microelectronics education, thus in a branch of technology which is approaching physical limits and is considered to be “brain limited”. The difficult curricula and low interest of young people in technology in general is the origin of a continuing manpower shortage in microelectronics industry. Therefore the searching for new educational concepts of creating, maintaining, and increasing knowledge through research, subsequent dissemination and selection of the obtained information has increased the role and responsibility of teachers. They should select the most essential, durable information from the ever increasing knowledge pool in time, they should decide which new material should be included and which should be dropped out in a course. The new educational concepts, frequently based on multimedia technologies should attract more students to the field [1, 2].
