Abstract
The theory of multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) systems deals with complex dynamical systems having several input (control) variables u j that regulate several output variables y j Frequently, such a system (as control plant) is formed by physically uniform parts (subsystems) accomplishing a common technological task. In other cases, the MIMO system is a unit that can be conditionally represented as a collection of independent or interconnected single-input/single-output (SISO) subsystems. The separate subsystems are called direct (or forward path) channels of the system, each of which establishes a relationship between the appropriate scalar input and output.
