Abstract
The Lemlich theory of electrical conductivity of a foam is reviewed, together with its nonlinear extension, which is very successful. This confirms that Plateau border conduction dominates in a typical liquid foam. Conductivity is therefore a good measure of liquid fraction. The same theory can be applied to solid foams to estimate the contribution of solid conductance to thermal conductivity, an important practical problem.
