Rheology and Drainage of Liquid Foams

  • Chapter
Foams and Emulsions

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSE,volume 354))

Abstract

The rheology of liquid foams is reviewed, concentrating on the quasi-static regime, in which calculations can be based on accurate simulations. Equilibrium and drainage under gravity are analysed, leading to the Foam Drainage Equation. This has many interesting solutions, including that which describes a solitary wave.
