Abstract

This far, I have referred to the relevance of thermodynamics to the theory of capital and biology only in passing; I have avoided encumbering the text or the footnotes with technicalities of the field. At this point, however, I thought it to be useful to devote a separate chapter on the critique of the subject so as to lay open to view its connection with the economic capital. I chose the route of criticism rather than that of a direct, formal, presentation for reasons that will soon become apparent.
