Macroscale Nonlocal Dispersion

Abstract

In the previous chapter, we employed hybrid mixture theory to “upscale” classical continuum equations to various higher scales. To do so we required a discrete scale separation between the “pore scale” and one or more higher scales. In this chapter we make no such assumptions on scale separation. That is, we work more in the spirit of sections 2.6–2.8 of Ch. II, though our starting point will be the “Darcy” scale rather than the “molecular” scale.
