Abstract
The demarcation of periods outlining the whole historical development of natural science is an important theoretical issue in history of science research and is based on our understanding of the nature of natural science and of the whole process of human history. Before we discuss the issue of demarcation in concrete terms, we should first consider the principles of demarcation and the origin of natural science.
