Quantitative fisheries research surveys, with special reference to computers

  • Chapter
Book cover Computers in Fisheries Research

Abstract

Fisheries research surveys are designed and conducted for a variety of purposes. Some examples are those of defining the geographical limits of distribution of a stock, studying the fisheries part of an ecosystem, and describing diurnal movements or seasonal migrations of a stock. The sole purpose considered here, however, is that of abundance estimation.
