Abstract

Tests and examinations have a long and turbulent history. Examples of testing practices can already be found in Ancient Greece. When the Sphinx asked Oedipus “what walks with four legs, then two legs and then three legs” and Oedipus answered “man”, he was judged by the Sphinx as being “king” material (Bruno, 1992).
