Abstract
As happens with all industries, also education has to renew its production technologies constantly. Some educational organisations seem to be more aware of this than others. The University of Limburg, Maastricht, the Netherlands, may be considered as a good example of an educational organisation that, from its foundation in 1974, is permanently involved in educational innovation. Emphasis on educational innovation has become an important characteristic of the University’s policy and decision-making. In addition, since its start this university established a relatively large Research & Development centre (The Department of Educational Development and Educational Research) to support the various Faculties with the implementation and maintenance of new educational approaches.
