Abstract

This paper addresses the analysis of three-way arms races based on an expansion of Richardson’s arms race equations. Two-way races are reviewed, and then three-way races examined. A model for examining a three-way catch-up process is presented. The emphasis is on third world nations which might possess or desire to possess weapons of mass destruction. Examples of arms race time histories are given to illustrate methods of analysis.
