Discretization in space

Abstract

In this chapter, the spatial discretization of the shallow-water equations is discussed. The most common approach is that of finite differences, in which the region of interest is covered by a rectangular grid with grid sizes Δx, Δy and the spatial derivatives are approximatedby finite differences.
