Abstract
As has been explained in Chapter 3, in Rosetta the phenomena that are often called morphological are dealt with in two separate components of M-grammars: first, the description of the word-internal structure and its relation to semantics is dealt with in the syntactic component, which specifies the set of well-formed lexical S-trees; and second, the relation between abstract representations of words in the form of lexical S-trees and their representations in the form of strings is dealt with in the morphological component. This chapter will mainly deal with the morphological component, though in certain cases considerations relevant to the rules from the syntactic component dealing with word-internal structure will play a role.
