Abstract

The modelling of physical problems can lead to ordinary or partial differential equations which are quite generally nonlinear. Examples include equations such as the Navier-Stokes equations in fluid mechanics, the Lane-Emden equation for stellar structure, nonlinear Schrödinger equations in quantum theory, soliton equations, etc.
