Abstract

Poisson’s Equation (1.9) reads

$$\nabla \left( {\varepsilon \frac{{d\Phi }}{{d{\text{r}}}}} \right) = - \frac{{{\rho _e}({\text{r}},t)}}{{{\varepsilon _0}}}$$
(7.1)

where Φ represents the potential, ε the dielectric function which is material, and possibly also position dependent, ε 0 the permittivity of vacuum and ρ e the charge density. The charge consists of:

  1. i)

the stationary charged donors and acceptors

  2. ii)

    the mobile current carriers

  3. iii)

carriers which are permanently or temporarily trapped.
