Abstract
The topic of my contribution originates from my participation in a long-standing intervention project in which I served as an advisor: the establishment of a counselling centre for the unemployed in Hanover. In this presentation I intend to focus on two topics, viz. (a) whether unemployed persons actually do take advantage of counselling services outside of job placement and official institutionalised social work, and (b) which groups from amongst the unemployed are reached by the services of such a counselling facility.
