Abstract
The study of the X-ray emission from M31 is a young field, having its beginnings in the mid-1970’s. By 1991, however, a fairly good understanding of the various sources is at hand. The importance of these sources is the result of the happy fact that M31 is a normal, high-luminosity galaxy; it therefore provides a good opportunity to study the X-ray emission in detail, allowing a better understanding of X-rays from more distant galaxies.
