Abstract

The paper deals with the description of distribution of turbulence characteristics (Reynolds stress and eddy viscosity) in a system with high-speed impeller (impeller with four asymmetrically profiled blades at the angle ∝ of 67° – 26°) placed axisymmetrically in cylindrical vessel with four baffles. The turbulent characteristics mentioned are calculated from the measured radial profiles of axial and radial components of the mean velocity in the spaces below and above the body of rotating impeller (laser-doppler anemometry was used) according to von Karman’s hypothesis of similarity of turbulent flow applied to axially symmetrical sytem with cylindrical co-ordinates.
