Abstract
A prominient feature of the turbulent flows in ducts with non-circular cross-sections is the “secondary flow”, which is the earliest known coherent structure of turbulent flows (Prandtl, 1926). It is our aim to derive this coherent vortex structure in the rectangular duct flow as the equilibrium state of the finite-amplitude disturbances in the flow.
