Abstract
In this chapter I will review the relevant research literature that assist in exploring the phenomenon of the scientist-turned-entrepreneur and his venture. Where appropriate, I will also draw conclusions and formulate a research framework and some propositions which will be the basis for the field work described in part II of this study.
