Abstract

Although the immensity of the glacier-covered area and its relative inaccessibility makes a complete inventory of glaciers in the United States currently impracticable, the present listing covers about 95 per cent of the total number of glaciers in detail, is the most comprehensive to date, and has been submitted as the United States’ contribution to the Temporary Technical Secretariat for a World Glacier Inventory.
