Health Care Systems

Part of the book series: Philosophy and Medicine ((PHME,volume 30))

Abstract

Prevention is primarily a medical question. But regardless of its possible medical utility it is clearly one of public policy; it is also an ethical question, and by this a question of pragmatic philosophy, because it is related to the question of values.

It is your right to reproach me with my behavior but it is my right not to care about your reproaches.

Aristippus (435–360 B.C.)
