Abstract

The aim of this paper is twofold: the first part will demonstrate how a standard Corinthian capital (1) with two tiers of eight acanthus leaves was carved out of a marble block at Proconnesus, while the second part will deal with the question of at what stage of its workmanship this capital became available for purchase.
