Abstract

Groundwater recharge is usually considered a process of water movement downward through the saturated zone under the forces of gravity or in a direction determined by the hydraulic conditions. In a broader sense the process of recharge is more complicated. Perhaps one of the most important factors is the time delay between the period in which the meteoric water enters the saturated zone and the time period in which it is manifested as an effectively exploitable groundwater source.
