Nonlinear Waves in a Developing Process

Abstract

As we know, a wind sea is a wave process with striking nonlinearity. In the wave field there is an energy transport from higher frequencies to lower ones and a sideband growth associated with instability of the waves. On the other hand, when the wind blows over the sea, the air near the surface will transmit energy to the water waves due to resonant and coupling mechanisms. Wind-generated waves are, in fact, in a state of continuous evolution with energy input.
