Abstract

The present work is very largely an updating of the study which we published some five years ago, under the title Education and Development in Western Europe, the United States and the U.S.S.R., A Comparative Study,1 a study undertaken at the request of the European Community Institute for University Studies, under the Presidency of Mr. Max Kohnstamm.
