Abstract
Henry Home of Karnes,’1 after his elevation to the bench of the Court of Session, the supreme civil court of Scotland, generally known as Lord Kames, was born on the modest country estate of Kames, in the parish of Eccles in Berwickshire in southeastern Scotland, in 1696.2 He died in Edinburgh on December 27, 1782.
