Abstract

This term is now used to encompass all cervical epithelial abnormalities previously classed either as ‘dysplasia’ or as ‘carcinoma in situ’. The reasons for this change of terminology have been extensively discussed1–3: and need not be elaborated on here, it sufficing to say that CIN forms a single, continuous, neoplastic spectrum.
