Abstract

The world’s oceans cover about 70% of the earth’s surface, and in places are deeper than 10 000 m. They are divided into the Pacific, the Atlantic, Indian, Arctic and Antarctic Oceans, as well as smaller areas like the North Sea between Britain and the continent of Europe, and the Mediterranean.
