Abstract

Certain phenomena are almost periodic in time as well as being regionalised in space. This paper presents a new technique, Trigonometric Kriging, which is designed to filter periodic components. The method has been tested on magnetism readings collected during an oceanographic cruise. Its performance has been checked by comparing the estimates at crossing points along the ship’s route where two measurements have been made at the same place at different times.
