Abstract

The practical effects of using different two dimensional laws in conjunction with the disjunctive kriging estimator are investigated. Alternative two dimensional probability density functions used are isofactor models based on one dimensional Gaussian and Gamma laws. The isofactor models used employ alternative correlation parameterizations. In addition to using the usual correlations among the variables involved, factor representations which replace correlations by moments from a beta distribution are used. Results of using the alternative parameterizations on simulated fields resembling soil properties are presented. It is shown that both Gaussian and Gamma laws result in similar disjunctive kriging estimates, with the Gaussian case being slightly better on low field values, but with the Gamma case being slightly better on high field values.
