Abstract

Physics is the study of this universe, its constituents, and their behavior. To the extent that we understand clearly some part of the subject and can accurately predict the methods to be used for the acquisition of new data, it is a science. To the extent that we do not know what results a particular experiment will have, and rely on intuition to govern the choice of the next experiment or “suddenly realize” that a particular datum is missing or not yet discovered, it is an art.
