Abstract
The role of manufacturing industry in nuclear power is at first sight fairly obvious: it is to manufacture components in a manner which makes sensible use of its resources, which satisfies its customers in terms of specification, quality and delivery, and at a price price which enables it to service its borrowings and renew the enterprise. That is the ultimate objective of all its activity.
