Abstract
Energy is an essential input to the of any society, and energy consumption is closely related to ils production of goods and services. Thus, every society seeks an energy supply system which is most appropriate for its current needs and its future growth. This chapter addresses the electricity supply sector, and reviews the mix of factors which determine the optimum choice among the spectrum of available systems.
Presented at Conference on Systems Aspects of Energy and Mineral Resources, Cosponsored by the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis and the Resource Systems Institute of the East-West Center, Laxenburg, Austria, 9–14 July, 1979.
