Abstract
The Acting President, Mr. Herman Liebaers, opened the session by saying that for some years IFLA had chosen for each annual session a theme reflecting the character of the host country, which was open to international discussion. Canada had already made a contribution at Helsinki in 1965 on the problems of bi-lingualism and bi-culturalism. This year the theme chosen was “Library service for a country of large geographical area.”
