Abstract
Attention has been drawn in authoritative circles of the Soviet Union to the statement made by Mr. W. Brandt, member of the board of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the governing Bürgermeister of West Berlin, which shows a not too correct understanding of the substance of the Soviet proposals for West Berlin and contains an unrealistic evaluation of the actual state of affairs. In view of such statements, the aforementioned circles considered that it would be useful to explain once again the Soviet Union’s position with regard to the question of West Berlin.
