Abstract
The European Commission of Human Rights consists of a number of members equal to that of the High Contracting Parties. No two members of the Commission may be nationals of the same State (Article 20 of the Convention).

This list is in order of precedence (cf. Rule 3 of the Rules of Precedure). The third column indicates the date on which the term of office will expire (cf. Article 22 of the Convention and Rule 1 of the Rules of Procedure, as amended at the Fifteenth Plenary Session, see page 62 above).

Owing to the death of Mr. Akbay, Mrs. Janssen-Pevtschin became a member of the Sub-Commission and Mr. Petren was chosen by lot as the third Substitute.
