Abstract

Any many-body theory needs some initial approximate description. If for example we discuss the properties of a multi-electron system and the density n s is small enough, just so the average Coulomb energy \({V_c}\sim {e^2}n_3^{\frac{1}{2}}/\varepsilon\) is small with respect to the temperature T, we can assume it is a quasi-ideal electron gas. Here e is the electron charge, and e is the dielectric constant. The momentum (or quasi-momentum) of an individual electron in such a system is a good eigennumber, and electron energy is a function of this momentum.
